Legislative Changes to School District Budget Votes and Elections

On November 11, 2019, the Governor signed into law “[a]n Act to amend the education law, in relation to military voters and ballots for election of members of the board of education and school district public library trustees, and the adoption of the annual budget and school district public library budget and referenda.” Ch. 489 of the Laws of 2019. The Act amends the Education Law by adding a new §2018-d and became effective immediately upon signing.

On December 10, 2019, the Governor signed into law “[a]n Act to amend the education law, in relation to applications for absentee ballots for school district elections.” Ch. 616 of the Laws of 2019.
